Hoisington posts trio of top-5 finishes

The Thompson Falls boys track team continued to excel despite the level of competition getting more fierce at the Montana High School Activities Association track meet Thursday and Friday afternoon at Frenchtown High School.

Bluehawk track star Danny Hoisington had three top-five finishes at the Western B Divisional meet this week.

Hoisington placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.76 seconds, fifth in the high jump clearing a distance of 5 feet, 6 inches and fourth in the long jump with a distance of 39 feet, 7 inches.

Hoisington was also a member of the 4X400 relay team that placed fifth recording a time of 3 minutes, 41.46 seconds. Other members of that team included Nate Tibeault, Cody Garrison, and Alex Erosa.

Tibeault finished with stellar individual performances. He finished second in the 400-meter relay with a time of 53.11 seconds, set a personal record placing fifth in the 1,600-meter race with a time of 5 minutes, 20 seconds and was also a member of the fifth place 4X400 relay team.

Individually, Erosa placed third in the 1,600-meter run recording a time of 4 minutes, 51.63 seconds, which was a personal record.

Parker McConnell finished second in the 1,600-meter run setting a personal record with a time of 10 minutes, 45 seconds.

Bonney joined Hoisington finishing in the topfive in the 110-meter hurdles recording a time of 18.41 seconds to finish fifth.

Garrison excelled in the speed events and set a personal record finishing fourth with a time of 45.33 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.

Garrison also placed third in the javelin with a throw of 152 feet, 1 inch and second in the pole vault recording a personal record clearing the distance of 12 feet, 6 inches.

The Lady Bluehawks had several participants who once again showcased why they have one of the top-tier girl’s track programs in Western Montana at the MHSA Class B Divisional track meet Thursday and Friday at Frenchtown.

Josey Neesvig had two of the top-ten individual finishes in the 800 and 1,600-meter dash. Neesvig finished fourth in the 1,600-meter dash recording a time of 5 minutes, 49.77 seconds and third in the 3,200-meter run, recording a personal record of 12 minutes, 41.30 seconds.

Neesvig was also a member of a 4X400 relay team that finished third with a time of 4 minutes, 37.31 seconds. That team included Megan Baxter, Sierra Hanks and Hailey Morgan.

The 4X100 relay team included Kacey VanZanten, Morgan, Gabriella Pallister and Maya Stiles. The group recorded a time of 54.83 seconds to finish in fifth place.

All season at meets, Jody Detlaff has found herself at the top of the list in throwing events and Divisionals was no exception.

Detlaff placed fifth in the discus event recording a personal record with a throw of 98 feet, 10 inches.

Detlaff also showcased her athletic versatility placing third in the high jump by clearing a distance of 4 feet, 8 inches.

Kacey VanZanten finished fifth in the javelin recording a personal record of 95 feet, 1 inches and Maya Stiles finished third in the pole vault clearing a distance of 8 feet.
