Clark Fork Mountain Cats travel to Ronan for Western Montana Duals

Western Montana Duals were held Jan. 5 and 6 in Ronan where 18 teams met to challenge each other on the mats. Frenchtown took top honors, followed by Ronan, Columbia Falls, Libby, Thompson Falls, Mission/Charlo, Broadwater and Flathead.

Teams included Big Sky JV; Bigfork; Broadwater; Clark Fork; Columbia Falls; Corvallis; Flathead JV; Florence; Frenchtown; Glacier; Hamilton; Libby; Mission/Charlo; Plains/Hot Springs; Ronan; Sentinel; Stevensville; Thompson Falls.

In Round 1 on Friday, the Clark Fork Mountain Cats competed against Corvallis with a Corvallis overall win of 36-30. During the match Mike Parkin, 120 lb. pinned Jimmy Schmitt and Ryan Cahalin pinned Zach Morgan at 152 lb. and Evan Hall pinned Harley Wise in the 285 lb.

In Round 2, Clark Fork met up with Ronan with a loss of 76 to 0. In Round 5 on Friday, Clark Fork challenged Glacier with a loss of 63-12. During that match, Isaiah Kovalsky pinned Rueger Baier, 138 lb. and Trey Green pinned Wes Palmer in the 182 lb. In Round 6, against Broadwater the Cats lost 54-15. Mike Parkin, 120 lb., pinned Kade Edgerton and Isaiah Kovalsky pinned Alonzo Chatman and Trey Green dec. Justin Denton.

On Saturday in Round 2 the Cats were the winner by criteria against Stevensville with 30 points each. Mike Parkin pinned Treven Mertius, Hunter Haskins pinned Quincy Larson at 132 lb. Isaiah Kovalsky pinned Tristen Riel and Evan Hall pinned Sebastian Driver.

In Round 3, Clark Fork succumbed to Hamilton, 60-6 where Cat Trey Green pinned Kale Wanner in the 182 lb. In Round 4, the Cats won against Bigfork, 24-18. Isaiah Kovalsky pinned Shelton Woll, and at 170 lb., Cat Caleb Cook pinned Kyle Cumming.
