St. Regis athletes Hill and Cantrell-Field win big in track

Two St. Regis athletes made it into the top six slot at the 19th Annual Russ Pilcher Western Montana Top 10 track and field meet in Missoula. Top athletes from all over Montana met at the Dornblaser track on April 25 to compete. Brock Cantrell-Field broke St. Regis School’s old discus record of 142 feet, 2 inches. Cantrell-Field threw 148 feet, 4 inches and took sixth place on Tuesday.

In the 100-meter dash, Madison Hill placed third with a time of 13.06 behind Hayle Sundquist of Dillon, who took second with a time of 12.92. First-place winner Allie Baldwin-Case had a time of 12.83.

Hill and Cantrell-Field also made top slots during the Whitefish A.R.M. Invitational in Whitefish on Saturday, April 29. Cantrell-Field took first place in discus with a throw of 148-2 and Hill placed first in long jump with 15-10 and second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.19.

Golf

Seeley-Swan Invitational was held on April 26 at the Double Arrow Lodge with a Par of 72. Superior players attended the competiton where Taryn Ververis scored 102, Thad Haskins 117, and Drake O’Neill 130. The winners were Colton Stodgill of Bigfork and Seeley-Swan’s Malachi Nocholas both with 77.

Tennis

Clark Fork girls competed at Ronan in tennis on April 27 where Mackenzie Spence defeated Bigfork Kali Wickland in singles, 6-4, 6-1. Bigfork’s Melissa Maitland defeated Clark Fork Poncshita Prasertsin, 6-0, 6-0. In Doubles Bigfork Julia Saunders and Xio Xio Strong defeated Clark Fork Madison Courser and Mackenzie Spence 6-3, 6-3. Clark Fork Emma Hopwood defeated Morgan Brooks of Ronan 6-1, 6-1.

Also, Alise Ruthford from Clark Fork defeated Maddy Sevier, 6-0, 6-3. BreAnna Turpin of Ronan defeated Madison Courser, 7-6, 7-4, 6-0. In doubles Mackenzie Spence and Poncshita Prasertsin won by forfeit.
